Beauty From the Inside Out: A Different Kind of Mother’s Day Invitation

Beauty From the Inside Out: A Different Kind of Mother’s Day Invitation

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the women who give so much of themselves every day.

This year, instead of another traditional gift, what if you gave yourself something different—
something meaningful, lasting, and just for you?

An experience that allows you to slow down…
to reconnect…
and to remember a different way of seeing yourself.

There’s a quiet moment that happens for so many women—
standing in front of the mirror, catching your reflection, and thinking…

“That doesn’t quite feel like me.”

Not because you don’t look “good.”
Not because anything is necessarily wrong.

But because something feels… disconnected.

And most of the time, we don’t talk about it.

We move through our days, take care of what needs to be taken care of, and keep going.
We adjust. We adapt. We tell ourselves it’s just part of getting older.

But underneath that, there’s often a deeper desire—
to feel like ourselves again.
To feel at ease in our own skin.
To quiet that inner voice that so quickly points out what’s changed.

This is something I see often in my work as a portrait artist.

Women come to me thinking they need to “look better” before they step in front of the camera.
But what they’re really longing for…
is to feel different about themselves.

To feel seen.
To feel comfortable.
To feel like who they are is enough.

And the truth is—that doesn’t start with a camera.

It starts with how we see ourselves.

That’s why I’m part of something a little different this Mother’s Day.

Alongside two incredible facilitators, we’ve created a small, intimate experience called:

Beauty From the Inside Out

Quiet your inner critic and reconnect with yourself

This experience will be facilitated by:

  • Kym Dakin-Neal, M.Ed, CPQC
  • Michelle Joubert, LCPC, BC-DMT, CHC

and hosted by Bonny Rollender, Founder & Co-owner of Rytualist.

Together, they’ve created a space that is supportive, thoughtful, and deeply human—one where you can explore your relationship with yourself in a meaningful and compassionate way.

This isn’t about changing how you look.

It’s about creating space to:

  • Notice the inner voices that shape how you see yourself
  • Shift from self-criticism to something more compassionate
  • Reconnect with the parts of you that feel grounded, present, and real

Through guided reflection, creativity, and conversation, this experience is designed to help you see yourself in a new way—gently, and without pressure.

We’ll be gathering at Rytualist in Portland’s Old Port for a small, supportive morning together.

Saturday, May 2, 2026
10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

We’re intentionally limiting this to just 10 women to keep the space personal and meaningful.

As part of the experience, each guest will also receive a special gift from Bonny Rollender and Sharyn Peavey—a way to continue honoring yourself beyond the event.

Because when a woman begins to see herself differently, even just a little…
that’s something worth holding onto.

If this resonates with you, I’d love for you to join us.

And if you’re not sure, that’s okay too.
Just notice what came up for you as you read this.

That’s usually where the truth lives.
