What Does a Portrait Experience Look Like?
Â
When most people reach out, it usually starts with a simple realization.
"We've been meaning to update our family photos."
"I've needed a new headshot for years."
"I'd love some portraits with my dog."
"The kids are growing up so fast."
Whatever the reason, there's usually a moment when you realize it's time to preserve this chapter of life before it changes.
That's when the conversation begins.
Â
Â
The First Conversation
My first conversation is often with the person reaching out, whether that's a parent planning a family session, someone looking for updated portraits, or a couple wanting to celebrate this season of life. We talk through what they're hoping for, who will be photographed, and any questions they have.
From there, I connect with everyone who will be part of the session whenever possible.
Because this experience isn't just about getting beautiful photos. It's about making sure each person feels comfortable, understood, and truly seen.
If it feels like the right fit, we choose a date and begin planning.
Â
Â
Getting to Know You
Before your Portrait session, we'll spend time together on a discovery call.
This is where I really get to know you and the people who will be photographed.
We talk about:
- Who you are
- What this season of life means to you
- The relationships, personalities, and moments you want to remember
We'll also talk about location, not just where to go, but why a particular place feels meaningful to you and tells your story.
At the same time, we'll begin thinking about something deeper.
When these portraits become part of your family's history, where will you want to enjoy them every day?
That's where artwork begins to become part of the conversation.
Â
Â
Planning the Details
I'll guide you through everything:
-
Outfit choices
-
Styling
-
How it will all come together
You don’t have to figure it out on your own. I’m there to make the process feel easy and thoughtful from start to finish.
Â
Â
Next is the Portrait Session.
This is where our planning pays off. With the details already in place, the session feels easy, natural, and enjoyable, giving us the freedom to focus on creating meaningful portraits together.
Â
Â
The Design & Ordering Experience
After your portrait session, we bring everything together during your design and ordering consultation. This is where the magic happens! It is my client favorite part of the whole portrait experience. and you know what's even better?
You can have this on the very same day.
You'll come into the studio, where you'll experience a cinematic presentation of your photographs.
Together, we'll:
-
Select your favorite photographs.
-
Design artwork that complements your home and the way you want to enjoy your portraits every day.
By the end of your consultation, you'll have a collection of portraits that not only preserve this season of life, but are ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
Â
Â
The Part Most People Don't Expect
One of the things my clients tell me most often is that the experience wasn't what they expected when they first reached out. It was so much more.
From the discovery calls and planning, to a portrait session that was relaxed and enjoyable, to seeing their loved ones displayed beautifully on the big screen, and finally to living with their artwork every day, they realized it wasn't just about taking photographs.
It was an experience.
Life has a way of moving quickly, and the people we love are constantly changing. Together, we create a way to hold onto this season long after it has passed. Your artwork acts as your daily reminder of the people, relationships, and moments that matter most.Â

Â
So What Does a Portrait Experience Look Like?
It looks like:
-
People wanting to preserve the ones they love and the season of life they're in.
-
A portrait session that's thoughtful, personal, and centered around what matters most to you.
-
A process that brings people together and creates memories long before the finished portraits are displayed.
-
Artwork that will be enjoyed for generations, long after today's social media posts have been forgotten.
