Marianne & Bill were married at the Little Harbor Chapel in Portsmouth. The wedding was filled with lots of great emotion and was wonderful to shoot. The wedding was as much about their kids as each other, as they love their kids dearly. Thanks to Leslie Barbini of the Wedding Belle for pulling off a fantastic day, and to Joya Beauty for having all the ladies looking so fantastic.

wedding in york harbor

Elizabeth & Kevin were married in York Harbor Maine and were blessed with ideal August weather as many surrounding areas in the state were raining. I remember how amazing the moon looked over the water off the deck of the York Harbor Reading Room that night before I left. I wanted to bottle it up and save it. Headgames Salon came to her and got the entire wedding party ready. Here are photos of her getting ready.

love in harpswell

pictures to come soon!

Kate & Miles were married yesterday in Harpswell on the water with a spectacular gamut of weather. It was a great day. The food was great, the cake DIVINE (and I am a cake snob) but her band really rocked. I must put in a plug for the Jason Spooner Trio. Not one typical wedding song all night and the place was dancing up a storm. If I can get them to make a live copy of the first dance song for me I will put it with a slideshow to Kate's images online, because it was just THAT GOOD.

Preview only if you can handle looking at two people in love. But even if love has bitten you these are easy to look at. What love is all about I say.

Lucia's pool received more than the needed last 6 ins. of water to fill it. Who needs to buy water when it comes in torrential downpours! Not many wedding pictures got worked on today folks ... sorry!

pictures to follow soon!

I helped Michelle shoot her wedding at Clark Cove's Farm. I love that place. Her couple was so full of energy and kisses I thought, her job is way to easy. I watched with her d3 and 50 mm lens and thought, wait, I thought blondes were supposed to have more fun. Michelle clearly has fun with what she does.

pictures to follow soon!

Today Elizabeth & Jeffrey were married. I am not sure who is in love with each other more. At my first wedding this summer I photographed Billy dancing with his mom, and she cried. I thought, I love my job. Well at this wedding, Jeff's mom Maria started to cry, then he started to cry... omg. I heard Elizabeth's mom say where are the kleenexes. (We could have all used them.)

When I took Elizabeth and Jeff down to the boats for a quick shoot, Jeff told me the story of how they met and their first date. I had my audio recorder going in my head while we were shooting. It sounded like a great first date. Started out with a 10 am Shrek movie and ended by the beach in Cape Elizabeth. 4 years ago...

Elizabeth & Jeff's rehearsal dinner was at 3 tides in Belfast. Elizabeth's dad, Dan works for their brewery company. He says it is the best job he has ever had :) Dan made a special wedding brew including ingredients from both sets of parents background ... 15lbs of sugar from the dominican republic and some scotch, or scotch malt. By the taste of it I am thinking he dumped some straight scotch. This is a shot of Jeff with his new dad. Dan has the wedding brew and Jeff has the black and tan. The other shot is Jeff being a good sport of getting red boat paint on his pants from our little shoot on the docks.

Elizabeth will be getting extra special attention on my blog because I used to baby sit her and her sister Mary, a long long time ago. Yes how old do I feel now.St. Francis is also the church I went to growing up. I asked Elizabeth how come I don't remember seeing them at church, she said because they were always late and sat in the back. We were always early and my mom had us front row center! oh yes.

emilie inc party

Michelle Turner, Lucia and I attended emilie inc's studio opening event. Emilie's studio was perfectly brown and pink. Michelle is busy chatting with Kate Parker about their last wedding together. I saw my friend Christina Wnek, who shot the image of Lucia and I. (Christina will be working for Emilie doing design work.) Lucia was awesome for an hour. Then she said to me, I want to go home and watch Charlie & the Kitty Cat. That meant she wants to watch Milo & Otis, our favortie movie. She behaved so well I had to let her throw rocks in the puddle for awhile:)

Here are images from Rae & Janne's wedding. This was a small and meaningful celebration. Lots of emotion, right up my alley! I heard talk at the dinner table of how many people were wishing Rae & Janne would be together, maybe for 15 years?! I heard a familiar and wonderful quote that night as well too, "if something is worth waiting for, it doesn't matter how long you wait".

marcie (09-20 bride)

I met with Marcie today at the location of her wedding in Falmouth. We had not met before in person, although she was at a wedding I had shot. She didn't remember seeing me there. That I like, that's a good thing! We discussed how and when we will shoot the wedding party to get her and Andrew to get back for the cocktail hour. Motor booty is her band. Marcie is thinking of wearing her hair down.. nice to see that. I asked her about her engagement ring, which was shining and perfect. The center ring was his grandfathers, two supporting rings were from his mom's earrings, and mini ones supporting those were new. Andrew designed it himself. I haven't met this lucky man, but already I am impressed.

bike ride, rain & hair

sorry no photo for this one!

I took Lucia on the bike to school again today. I missed the part about severe thunderstorms. She got to school ok, I got down poured on, on the way home. It was ok, BUT, it messed up my completely awesome hair cut I got yesterday from Kate @ Headgames. Ladies if you are reading this and are considering the idea of hair and/ or make-up for your wedding, you need to call Kate. She had me looking the cover of a magazine in about 2 hours. And all I went in there for was a well needed cut. In fact do not wait, they book up fast. Head Games is located on Temple Street in Portland, number is
773-8393. In addition, I think next to great images, (and a good fiance), looking great ought to be the second priority :) Your wedding images can go down in history as gorgeous, and your kids will say "wow mom you were so young and pretty". I am not saying you NEED professional hair and make-up, but um, why not? No matter what we thinkg of ourselvse now, we never get any younger.

I took Lucia on the bike to school today. She decided it was ok to wear her helmet. She loved the 1.5 mile ride to school and didn't want to get out. We may make this the regular way to commute during good weather.

Sunday I took this head shot for my Julyth bride Pam. As Doctor of Nurse Practitioner she has many big plans. We had dinner at Vignola in the old port and discussed many her book plans over white whine and pizza. Yes we are cheap dates! I am teaming up with Pam to work on incredible project she has been working on for the past 2 years. She needs some compelling images, and as always I am up for the challenge.

Sara & Nick (08-23)

Sunday morning I met with Sara & Nick to discuss their upcoming wedding at Sebasco. Sara & I discussed her serious dislike for having her picture taken. I assured her that I myself only like 1 in 100 images of myself, I didn't say and only if it is photo shopped! But a wedding day is unlike any other, and so will her pictures be. I had to ask about her engagement ring because it was very pretty. Not that I have personally seen an ugly engagement ring, but this one was very delicate and pretty. Nick
said he definitely was not comfortable making such a personal and financial investment as her ring without Sara's input, especially knowing how particular she is. I thought, wise man!

jersey shore

I got a great tan for the few hours I was at the beach in new jersey. There are different kinds of people at Jersey beaches than Maine beaches. At least at the end of the day my legs were less glowing white. I only wish I had gotten a photo of the ladies who thought we were FBI agents. I've often thought that would be a good alternative job to what I do?.... fight crime or make beautiful pictures of people...

wedding at the mooring b&b

Laura & David were into getting shots at Reid State Park despite the fact it was a little chilly. These two - definitely in love. Laura reminded me of my best friend from elementary school, petite, big eyes and button cute! They are in Hawaii for their honeymoon. :)
Thanks again to Kate from Head Games for great hair and make-up!

Happy Fourth of July!

I shot the wedding of Pam & Ho here in Freeport. Due to unplanned circumstances I did not get to see Pam until she was at the Church. When I knew she had arrived I snuck in the back room to see and get candid's. When I walked into the room I was blown away. There she was in this majestic dark red dress surrounded by beautiful bridesmaids in a bold blue with white sashes. The lighting was dim and from Pam's hair and stature I felt like I had walked into a 19th Century French Painting. I was excited about the shots we could get and at the same time disappointed I didn't get to see and photograph her before this like I do most of my brides. We got great shots and the day was great!

Heather & Billy's Wedding Day
continued ...
The wedding was spectacular. A couple of near misses with the weather but it all worked out fine. The rain stopped about 15 minutes before the ceremony. When Heather arrived in the Bentley steam was lifting off the ground and the sun began to appear. Couldn't have been more perfect. A strange event did happen where I found myself trying to get the stellar shot of Heather & Billy on the Bentley with the amazing background, and not get into the view finder - the broken down saturn (in front) and the stretched hummer (behind )that decided to sandwich us in like sardines. Seriously they were crowding our glory. I was thinking "WHERE DID THEY COME FROM!" All in all it couldn't have been better, pictures to follow. And no I did make it the bachelorette party I was invited to crash for Marcie (9/20 wedding). I am not 25 anymore, after a wedding I am tired!

orange wedding album

WHAT?!
It arrived today and it looks great! I love it. It definitely makes a statement with that cover - wow - the orange is powerful, not for the light at heart. : ) thanks Lorelei
This orange wedding album was made for Lorelei & Ted, married in Vermont in the fall of 2006. Lorelei being a graphic designer (www.grazierdesign.com) worked closely with me throughout each design stage. I knew from observing Lorelei on her wedding day and viewing all of her incredibly designed paper items for her wedding, ( the coaster I still have on my desk), that her album had to be above and beyond! I am happy to be posting this album on my blog, working intensely on this album I eagerly awaited the final product from Queensberry of New Zealand. I hope this will also inspire other couples to open the doors as to what their own album can be; a personal statement for their family history.
